No “Bad Girl” Image for Emma Watson

We stumbled upon the following article involving Emma today, and thought it was worth sharing.  Read below or find it HERE:

Although she claims she’s a talented drinker, Emma Watson says she’ll never become a troubled, self-destructive “bad girl” like Lindsay Lohan or, formerly, Britney Spears. The Harry Potter actress claims she’ll never “bottom out” like many famous and even not so famous child stars. In fact, La Watson even jokes that falling “off the deep end” is just out of the question.

Yes, at the tender age of 21, Emma Watson seems very certain of who she is and exactly where she’s going. Or at least where she’s determined not to go.

“Sometimes I feel as though everyone’s waiting with bated breath for the three of us from ‘Harry Potter’ to do something that will perpetuate the child-star stereotype,” said Watson in an interview with Elle UK. “I don’t know if I’m the least likely person to go off the rails, but I don’t see any need to. It’s not on my agenda. There are too many other things I want to do.”

Of course, just because Emma Watson refuses to succumb to the “curse” of childhood stardom, that doesn’t mean that she’s some sort of Carrie Nation style teetotaler. She enjoys drinking socially from time to time. In fact, she’s very good at it.

“My dad’s great hobby is wine,” Emma explained. “so it’s always been part of our family life. For someone so little, I don’t get drunk very easily. It is quite a good talent. I’m not challenging anyone to a competition, though!”

So, there you have it. Kudos to Emma Watson for being so determined to avoid the chemical pitfalls of Hollywood despite her child star background and despite her ability to toss back the fermented grape juice.

You go, “Good Girl.”

Kudos, Emma.  It’s nice to see a respectful celebrity once in a while.
